Well if you are willing to get a a portable DVD player, the features you essentially want to pay attention to are screen size, picture quality, and battery life. And it have all of it...
Battery life is a bit limited and to be honest when I saw it I was thinking that Blu Ray wasn’t really meant for a screen this small. That being said, it works in a pinch if your library is now primarily BRD.
The main downside I have found with this player is that when I uses it in the car,I constantly accidentally hits the control buttons which stop or skip the video forward.

I want to but this portable Dvd player for make my next trip very excited...

Well its folding design seemed like a logical choice to protect the screen with the applicable rough use. Here s what Its found, hope it helps you make an informed decision!
Nike Air Max is a line of shoes first released by nike.inc in 1987.Now Nike Air Max has became the main products of Nike shoes. Since its introduction,Nike has frequently introduced new and updated models of the Nike Air max shoes.http://www.pickreplica.com/
I haven t gotten this player so I just gave it the average review.
I ordered it today and it shipped today. I don t know what problem
the other person had, but it looks l ll get mine in a couple of days.
This DVD Playah is awesome our kid dropped this thing at least 100x and it only broke cause Mom stepped on it ;) thats why im buyin another and we got an extra battery now, not that we need it. Lasted the last 3 years and the last 2 of dropping it. AWWWWWWWWWHITE!!!! daGECKO
Great product! Once you put the brightness setting on moonlight, you re good to go for watching up to 13 hours of video. I watched 3 2-hr shows so far on it and it still has some juice.
I bought this for a 10 hour flight to London with my kids. I am not sure of the total battery power it has but my son watched four full length movies on it and it still had some juice left. Nice picture, nice audio, easy to operate - love it!
I ended up buying this player specifically because it had divx / mp4 compatibility which I wanted since I mostly use digital video files rather than dvd disks.
The main downside I have found with this player is that when my daughter uses it in the car she constantly accidentally hits the control buttons which stop or skip the video forward. Because of the placement of the buttons it is VERY easy for kids to accidentally hit a button.
We just got back from a road trip and this was a major pain. To add to that when you are playing video files (divx/mp4) from a DVD disk there is no chapters so when you press the skip it jumps to the next movie and there is no way to go back to where you were. One one 2 hour period my daughter probably watched parts of 6 movies because of this. I did discover that you can fast forward by pressing and holding the skip button, but it s still a time consuming affair.
I now have to figure out some type of "button protector" to prevent this for future trips.
If you don t need divx/mp4 functionality I would suggest going with another player like one of the sony dvd players which has higher quality video and might not have this same button issue.
We really enjoy the panasonic dvd player. We bought it mainly to use in our van and the volume isn t loud enough to hear over the vehicle noise but other than that we love it. We just bought a transmitter so the sound comes through the radio of our van and that solved our problem.
I ll admit, like most, the price of this portable DVD player almost turned me away. If the player was for an adult, I probably wouldn t have thought twice: the main purpose of this, however, was for a 4 year old to use during long plane/car trips. I purchased and returned several players before buying this one, as I found the other players to be far inferior. I had issues with batteries not clicking and staying in place, but more so, was just disappointed by the short battery life. I broke down and bought this one prior to taking our last vacation. This is a hands down winner. The battery life is true to what is advertised....10 hours in plane with no issues and it s still going! It s lightweight, thin, and has all the features you need (and none of the annoying one s you don t). I d recommend this product to anyone and will likely be purchasing another one in the future.
We bought this player to watch dance videos.
I wanted to write this review for those who are looking for a portable player to use with interactive and / or educational videos with menus that need to be navigated and selections made, etc.
I had a hard time finding the right player because most of the rating services scored based on suitability for playing movies and counted things as important that I did not need, like having a remote and best available screen resolution.
My priorities were a robust selection / position changing key set up, slow motion, both frame by frame and general slow motion, long battery life, and good sound.
On those issues this is a great player. The circular position button with the central selection button is great, large enough for my fat fingers, and not so fragile or small, such as the high end Sony portables, that I fear they will break after a few months use.
Slow motion works well, with several speeds, and the frame by frame is also very helpful, with auto advance when continually pressed. So for this purpose this was the best option I could find, and now that I have it, it works as well as or better than advertised.
I use one of these on an exercise machine to keep up with documentaries. For the past year I ve been using a Sony DVP FX-820, but it would skip if A) I was playing content "late" in the disc (outer edge) or B) the exercise machine was vibrating more than usual. This really was a pain so I started looking for a player that had an anti-skip buffer like you find in most CD players. This was the only model that I could find that had it!
Further, this player offers lots of zoom options, including some that maintain the original aspect ratio (i.e. don t distort the image). Most players offer just one nearly useless stretch mode, if they offer any zoom at all!
This review applies to the LS-83 too -- the only difference between the 83 and 86 is the battery life, which I don t really care about.
We bought one of these for our 7 year old daughter to keep her entertained on trips. For that it has been great and kept her happy all over the US and Europe. It is even much more tolerant of dirty young fingers than several other portable DVD players we ve owned.
But, after 10 months the wall power supply died and we are now unable to charge the unit. After literally hours on the phone with Panasonic I fought my way through to someone who read from a prepared statement declaring that the 12 month parts warranty relates ONLY to the DVD player and not to the accessories, including the power supply. This has completely alienated me since (a) the power supply is a separate but essential component of the system advertized as having a 12 month warranty and sold as a bundle in the original packaging; (b) the warranty verbiage itself only excludes the batteries (to 10 days) and makes no such qualification about accessories, even if we accept that an essential component supplied with the DVD player is an accessory.
So, despite being a great little product I am reluctant to recommend the unit to other consumers lest they suffer the same fate as I and be stuck with either an unusable DVD player or a $58+shipping charge for the replacement power supply, which has a proprietary connector not available on after-market adaptors sold in say Radio Shack.
The picture quality is better in say, my husband s iphone. Titles look very obviously made of little squares; they don t look smooth. Otherwise this machine works very well. The sound is VERY clear (that really matters to me as I want to use this for didactic DVDs etc) but the volume only goes so far; I need the headphones to cross out the noise from outside.
The unit is compact and attractive. It looks sturdy. Let s see how it lasts.
I picked this up after briefly reviewing the competition s specs. When you are shopping for a portable DVD player, the features you essentially want to pay attention to are screen size, picture quality, and battery life. If you are burning your own DVDs or playing certain styles of downloaded content you ll also want to pay attention to the format capabilities.
I finally decided on this device because it advertised 13 hour battery life and I was flying to Europe (a 9 hour flight from WA State). I was also going to be tossing it in a backpack and going. The folding design seemed like a logical choice to protect the screen with the applicable rough use.
Here s what I found, hope it helps you make an informed decision!
Pros:
- Design is elegant and fairly durable.
- Sound quality was surprisingly great.
- Controls were pretty intuitive.
- A/V cable was included accessory.
- Saves your place and starts up right from where you left off.
Cons:
- Though I didn t expect the full 13hrs battery life, it s more like 5-6 with a reasonable backlight level. Less without headphones.
- Picture quality is not comparable to competing devices like Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black.
- The buttons are awkwardly placed and easy to accidentally press when lifting or resituating the device.
Preference:
- I don t really think a remote is necessary for this style of electronic but some may find the lack of remote a drawback.
- The folding design can be a bit bulky for coach seating on a plane. It would have been nice if the screen could flip all the way over into a tablet design like this device does: Sony DVPFX810 8-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black
About Traveling with Portable DVD Players:
If you are traveling internationally and plan on buying DVDs when you arrive instead of bringing them with you... you ll want to remember that this device only plays Region 1 DVDs. DVDs from Europe are Region 2. Mexico, Central and South America, Australia and New Zeland are Region 4. Russia, much of Asia, and South Africa are region 5. In all, this means that you can only play DVDs from the region you buy the device from. There are some ways around this to my understanding but as a matter of convenience you may just want to purchase a player from the region you ll use content from. You can find more about DVD regions at:
Looking back on this purchase, I ll probably opt for my iPhone/iPod or one of the following devices in the future...
Sony DVPFX810 8-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black
Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black
And Panasonic also offers a portable Blu Ray Disc Player for those of you who have gone Blu. Battery life is a bit limited and to be honest when I saw it I was thinking that Blu Ray wasn t really meant for a screen this small. That being said, it works in a pinch if your library is now primarily BRD...
Panasonic DMP-B15 Portable Bluray Player
This review was made August 2009 so check for newer options if you re reading this in the future =).
While we ve only had this player a few weeks, we can say it made it through a 7.5 hr flight w/ our 3 yr old watching movies non-stop-- a life-saver for all around us! We also had
I bought it to use for the long flight to Japan from Ohio. We probably watched 8 hours but the player was still keep going. The price is great comparing to anything at local stores too. If something happened to the one we have, I definately get the exactly same one again.
Took trip to Hawaii from Reno and it lasted the who way including layover time 8 hours. Used it in the hotel room. Used it ont the return trip too! Don t know how to live without it on the plane with my kids. It should be a mandatory item for all parents who board airplanes with young kids.
Purchased this dvd player to use for entertainment during a 6 hour flight. The battery had no problem lasting for the entire flight. Used 2 ear buds between us. Was awesome to play movies I converted to .avi files. I burned several movies onto a single DVD and the player had no problem playing them. They even show up in the menu. Nice...
Only have 2 minor issues. Would be nice to have a fast forward button on the player itself since my .avi files didn t have chapters. The other is the display quality. I didn t expect to get the 800x600 resolution that Sony uses. The trade-off is that you get the long battery life on this Panasonic. I m happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone that needs a long playing DVD player.
Bought this for my son in law who is a commercial fisherman. Their trips for sea scallops take them away from home up to 2 weeks at a time and the only thing to keep you sane during the down time is a book and the occasional TV show but you are at the mercy of who has the remote.
Another guy on the boat had a portable DVD player and my son in law mentioned it to my daughter.
After doing thorough research I found this DVD player. For the $$$$ it is the best bang for your buck. The battery life is hands down 10x better than 90% of what is out there. He loves it!!!!
I also purchased the travel bag for it.
You would have thought I had bought a kid a new video game!!
My daughter called Christmas night after everyone left to thank me for making her a DVD widow. She was only kidding but she said he hadn t stopped talking about it or fiddling about it all day.
We love this portable DVD player. We had been through a few different models from Costco & Frys (can t recall what they were anymore), but each one had it s issues. This DVD player is a winner on a few key items:
1. The screen still works when it s bright outside and given that we use this on long car rides, this is important.
2. The screen angle is adjustable while not taking up too large of a footprint - allowing it to be placed on top of the dash for all to see.
3. The sound is plenty loud.
4. Video quality is good.
5. Battery life is just amazing.
The only drawback we ve experienced, based on the battery and the screen adjustment design, is that it s a little bulky when folded up. This could be a slight issue for some when traveling on a plane, but it has not been an issue for us.
