This replaces a Panasonic DVD recorder which was much better. This is very difficult to learn to use and the instruction booklet is not clear at all. It is difficult to find the subject you are interested in as well as when you do find it the instructions are poor. It is not clear what kind of DVDs you need to buy to record on so we bought the wrong kind. We've spent a lot of time trying to format DVDs so we could record on them but the instrctions are very poor and it takes a lot of time. I do not recommend this item.
